AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF PASCAGOULA TO MAKE ANNUAL EXPENDITURES OF CITY FUNDS TO PAY ALL OR A PORTION OF THE COST OF THE PREMIUMS FOR HEALTH INSURANCE BENEFITS FOR RETIRED CITY EMPLOYEES WHO ARE PARTICIPATING IN THE GROUP HEALTH INSURANCE BENEFITS PLAN ESTABLISHED BY THE CITY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  The governing authorities of the City of Pascagoula, Mississippi, in their discretion, may make annual expenditures from any available funds of the city to pay all or a portion of the cost of the premiums for health insurance benefits provided under a self-insured group health insurance benefits plan established by the city under Sections 25-15-101 and 25-15-103, Mississippi Code of 1972, for retired employees of the city who are retired under the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) or a retirement system administered by PERS and who are participating in the group plan after their retirement.

     (2)  The provisions of this section shall be repealed on December 31, 2011.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
