House Bill 1707

AN ACT MAKING AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF ARCHIVES AND HISTORY FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING A NATIONAL CIVIL RIGHTS MUSEUM, FOR FISCAL YEARS 2007 AND 2008.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1.  In addition to all other sums heretofore appropriated, the following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the Working Cash-Stabilization Reserve Fund, not otherwise appropriated, to defray the expenses of the Department of Archives and History, for the purpose of funding the preplanning of a museum recommended by the Governor's Commission to Establish a National Civil Rights Museum in Mississippi, as created by Governor Haley Barbour's Executive Order No. 969, for the period beginning upon passage of this act and through the fiscal year ending June 30, 2008......................................

     SECTION 2.  The money herein appropriated shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the proper fund or funds as set forth in this act, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

     SECTION 3.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
