AN ACT MAKING AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION TO THE MISSISSIPPI SUPREME COURT FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING SUPPORT STAFF POSITIONS FOR THE SUPREME COURT AND THE COURT OF APPEALS, FUNDING THE SALARIES AND OTHER EXPENSES OF SPECIAL JUDGES APPOINTED IN THE GULF COAST COUNTIES, AND PROVIDING APPROPRIATION AUTHORITY TO FUND TRIAL COURT SUPPORT STAFF, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2007.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. In addition to all other sums previously appropriated, the following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Mississippi Supreme Court for the purpose of funding support staff positions for the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals and funding the salaries and other expenses of special judges appointed in the Gulf Coast counties, as provided in Section 2, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2007

SECTION 2. The money appropriated in Section 1 shall be allocated as follows:
(a) Supreme Court - judicial assistant and two (2) law clerks............................................ $ 164,143.00
(b) Court of Appeals - judicial assistant and two (2) law clerks............................................ $ 164,143.00
(c) Special judges appointed in Gulf Coast counties - salaries and other expenses....................... $ 399,157.00
TOTAL............................................. $ 727,443.00
SECTION 3. In addition to all other sums previously appropriated, the following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State Treasury to the credit of the Mississippi Supreme Court that is comprised of special source funds collected by, or otherwise available to, the court, for the purpose of providing appropriation authority to fund trial court support staff for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2007$ 200,000.00.
SECTION 4. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the proper fund or funds as set forth in this act, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.
SECTION 5. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
