AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE MUNICIPAL CLERK TO PROVIDE THE COUNTY TAX COLLECTOR WITH THE NAMES AND IDENTIFYING INFORMATION REGARDING THE MOTOR VEHICLE LICENSE TAG OF OWNER OF VEHICLE TO WHICH A TRAFFIC TICKET WAS ATTACHED FOR A PARKING VIOLATION IF THE OPERATOR OR OWNER FAILS TO APPEAR AND/OR PAY THE APPROPRIATE FINE; TO PROHIBIT COUNTY TAX COLLECTOR FROM ISSUING A MOTOR VEHICLE LICENSE TAG TO SUCH OWNER IF HE HAS NOT SATISFIED ANY AND ALL OBLIGATIONS TO A MUNICIPALITY REGARDING PARKING VIOLATIONS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  If the operator or owner of record of a vehicle to which a traffic ticket was attached for a violation of the law and ordinances in regard to the parking of vehicles in a municipality fails to appear in response to the ticket and/or pay the appropriate fine, the clerk of the municipal court of the municipality may furnish to the county tax collector the name of the owner of record of the vehicle and identifying information regarding the motor vehicle license tag of the vehicle.  The county tax collector shall not issue a motor vehicle license tag to the owner or renew a motor vehicle license tag until the owner of the vehicle submits adequate proof that he has satisfied any and all obligations to the municipality regarding the violation.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2007.
