AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT A TEACHER WAGE INCENTIVE PROGRAM FOR TEACHERS IN EARLY CARE AND EDUCATION AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS PARTICIPATING IN THE QUALITY RATING SYSTEM; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The State Department of Education shall develop and implement a teacher wage incentive program to allow participating early care and education and after school programs in the Quality Rating System (QRS) established under Section 43-1-65 to access funds to provide wage incentives to teachers who make nationally recognized educational advancements in the field per an incremental formula and criteria developed by the department. This program shall begin October 1, 2007.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
