House Bill 476

AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE SECRETARY OF STATE TO PROMULGATE UNIFORM RULES AND REGULATIONS THAT ALLOW A VOTER TO CAST HIS OR HER VOTE ON AN AUTHORIZED VOTING SYSTEM IN A MANNER THAT PROVIDES COMPLETE PRIVACY FROM OTHER VOTERS WAITING TO CAST THEIR VOTE; TO AUTHORIZE THE SECRETARY OF STATE TO PURCHASE ANY ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT NECESSARY TO PROVIDE VOTERS WITH PRIVACY WHEN THE VOTER CASTS HIS OR HER VOTE ON AN AUTHORIZED VOTING SYSTEM; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  The Secretary of State shall promulgate uniform rules and regulations that allow a voter to cast his or her vote on an authorized voting system in a manner that provides complete privacy from other voters waiting to cast their vote.

     (2)  The Secretary of State is authorized to purchase any additional equipment necessary to provide voters with privacy when voting on an authorized voting system.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
