House Bill 331

AN ACT TO PROHIBIT INSURERS FROM ISSUING OR DELIVERING ANY HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE POLICY UNLESS THE POLICY IS PRINTED IN AT LEAST TWELVE-POINT TYPE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  An insurer may not issue or deliver in this state any homeowners insurance policy unless the policy is printed in at least twelve-point type.  For the purposes of this section, the term "insurer" means any entity subject to the jurisdiction of the Commissioner of Insurance as provided in Section 83-5-1.

     (2)  This section shall apply to policies or contracts issued or renewed on and after July 1, 2007.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2007.
