House Bill 48

AN ACT TO REQUIRE CERTAIN ROADS, STREETS AND HIGHWAYS CONSTRUCTED, RECONSTRUCTED OR RESURFACED AFTER JULY 1, 2007, TO HAVE MILE MARKER SIGNS LOCATED ALONG THE EDGE OR RIGHT-OF-WAY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Every road, street and highway lying outside the boundaries of any incorporated municipality in this state that is constructed, reconstructed or resurfaced from and after July 1, 2007, by or pursuant to any contract let by the Mississippi Transportation Commission or the board of supervisors of any county, including state aid roads, must have mile marker signs appropriately located and visible to the motoring public along the edge or right-of-way.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2007.
