Senate Concurrent Resolution 622

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING LINDA W. JACKSON FOR WINNING THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FEDERAL EDUCATION PROGRAM ADMINISTRATORS STATE LEADERSHIP AWARD.

     WHEREAS, Ms. Linda W. Jackson, Federal Programs Coordinator for the Philadelphia, Mississippi, Public School System, has been nominated for and won the State Leadership Award sponsored by the National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators, which is given each year to outstanding federal program administrators and staff; and

     WHEREAS, Linda will be presented with this prestigious award at the annual conference of the national association held on March 26, 2006, in Washington, D.C., where she will be honored for a job well done and for her continued efforts to excel in educating Mississippi's children; and

     WHEREAS, Linda Jackson received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Jackson State University, and Master and Educational Specialist Degrees from Mississippi State University; and

     WHEREAS, she has been an educator for 35 years, serving as an elementary teacher, teacher of the Gifted and Talented, Middle School Math teacher, a High School Principal, and is currently Federal Programs, Curriculum and District Test Coordinator for the Philadelphia Public School District, Philadelphia, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, honors include being selected Teacher of the Year and STAR Teacher five times.  She serves as President of the Board of Trustees for East Mississippi Community College, is a member of the Advisory Council for the Meridian Branch of Mississippi State University, and is actively involved in church and community activities.  She teaches adult Sunday School classes; and

     WHEREAS, Linda is married to Charles Jackson and is the mother of two children:  Charles B. Jackson, Paramedic and Fire Fighter, Southaven, Mississippi; and Nikki Jackson, School Teacher, Tunica School District, Southaven, Mississippi; and three grandchildren.  Linda believes children should be the nation's highest priority and that there should be a renewed commitment to saving, teaching and preparing them to be tomorrow's leaders; and      WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this dedicated educator and community leader who has brought honor to her school, her community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Linda W. Jackson for winning the National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators State Leadership Award, and extend to her and her family the best wishes of the Legislature in her future successes.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Ms. Linda Jackson, be forwarded to the Superintendent of the Philadelphia Separate School District, and be made available to The Neshoba Democrat and the Capitol Press Corps.
