Senate Concurrent Resolution 513

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING KRISTIAN DAMBRINO, MISS MISSISSIPPI 2005.

     WHEREAS, Grenada, Mississippi, is the proud home of Miss Kristian Dubard Dambrino, daughter of Robert and Debbie Dambrino, who was crowned Miss Mississippi 2005 after competing against 40 other contestants in the Miss Mississippi Pageant held in Vicksburg, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, serving as Miss Mississippi after representing the state in the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Kristian will appear at numerous events across our state, promoting tourism and economic development, welcoming people from all over the world to Mississippi and sharing her "southern hospitality" as an official ambassador for her home state; and

     WHEREAS, an active and outgoing student, Kristian is a Dean's List Scholar at Delta State University majoring in Graphic Design, with the following scholastic honors:  graduated from Kirk Academy in 2003; Carson-Newman, President's List Scholar; Delta State University, Dean's List Scholar; nominated for 2005 Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters Music Award; Omicron Delta Kappa Freshman Leadership Award; Phi Eta Sigma Freshman Honorary (top 16 GPA in class); Lecia G. Williams Essay Award ($500.00 endowed by Morgan Freeman); 1st Place, Writing Award for 1-Act Play (Dido's Doughnuts and the Double D); Robert C. Byrd Scholarship; Mississippi Eminent Scholars Grant; HIGH SCHOOL; Salutatorian (4.0 GPA); National Honor Society Officer; 1st Place, Mississippi College Math & Science Competition; Mu Alpha Theta Math Honorary; 1st place, District Scholars' Bowl; Scholar Athlete; 1st Place in state, Knight Essay Competition; and

     WHEREAS, while attending Delta State, Kristian has accomplished the following outstanding achievements:  Delta State University, Freshman Class Favorite; Renaissance Lead Vocalist; Delta State University Diamond Girl; Delta Delta Delta Sorority; Top 5 Delta State Beauty Review; principal actress in off-broadway musical I Love you, You're Perfect, Now Change; Art Editor, The Confidante Literary Magazine; HIGH SCHOOL; Miss Kirk Academy; Most Beautiful; Most Talented; Editor, Kirk Yearbook; DAR Good Citizen Award; 1st Alternate, Mississippi Junior Miss; Grenada Exchange Club Student of the Year 2003; 1st Place, VFW Voice of Democracy Speech Contest; opening act Trick Pony/Joe Diffie Concert; 3rd alternate, 2003 Miss Mississippi Pageant; and 1st alternate, 2004 Miss Mississippi Pageant; and

     WHEREAS, Kristian is an accomplished vocalist and musician with the following credentials:  10 years piano; 6 years vocal; 5 years cheerleading (All-Star each year); entertained as a singer, dancer and comedienne at the Smith Family Theatre in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee; principal soloist in Kirk Showchair Encore and Delta State University's Renaissance (including vocal arranging); lead roles in high school and Delta State University plays; one year guitar and mandolin; written/copyrighted/recorded over 40 original songs; recently produced first CD of completely original songs (Red Mind); has authored a three-act play (The Frozen Man) and a one-act play (Dido's Doughnuts and the Double D); and recorded with Norbert Putnam (Nashville Producer for Dan Fogelberg, Joan Baez, Jimmy Buffet and Elvis Presley); and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize the dedication and outstanding presentation that this talented young Mississippian has made for her home state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Kristian Dambrino of Grenada, Miss Mississippi 2005, for her dedicated and outstanding service as unofficial ambassador for our state during her reign, and extend to her and her family the best wishes of the Legislature in the Miss America Pageant and in her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Miss Kristian Dambrino and be made available to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
