AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF LAUDERDALE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO LEVY ADDITIONAL EMERGENCY TELEPHONE SERVICE CHARGES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  In addition to the emergency telephone service charge and commercial mobile radio service emergency telephone service charge authorized to be levied by Sections 19-5-313 and 19-5-333, the Board of Supervisors of Lauderdale County, Mississippi, is authorized and empowered, in its discretion, to levy the following emergency telephone service charges:

          (a)  An amount not to exceed Fifty Cents (50¢) per month for each residential telephone subscriber line;

          (b)  An amount not to exceed One Dollar ($1.00) per month for each commercial telephone subscriber line; and

          (c)  An amount not to exceed Fifty Cents (50¢) per month for each commercial mobile radio service customer whose place of primary use is within Lauderdale County.

     (2)  Revenue collected from the additional charges authorized by subsection (1) of this section shall be utilized by the board of supervisors in the same manner as similar charges collected pursuant to Sections 19-5-313 and 19-5-333.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2006.
