A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE LONG AND DISTINGUISHED SERVICE OF CHIEF JERRY MOSLEY UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AFTER 25 YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE.

     WHEREAS, Chief Jerry Mosley of Waynesboro, Mississippi, has announced his pending retirement from the Waynesboro Police Department after 25 years of dedicated service; and

     WHEREAS, Chief Mosley is a 1982 graduate of the Laurel Law Enforcement Training Academy; and

     WHEREAS, Chief Mosley's law enforcement skills were refined at the National Rifle Association Police Firearms Course, the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (F.B.I.) SWAT School in Harrison County, Law Enforcement Basic Rifle Marksmanship School of the F.B.I. and Waynesboro Police Department and Specialty Service K-9 Training in Austin, Texas; and

     WHEREAS, not one to limit his activities to his assigned law enforcement duties, Chief Mosley served as the Secretary/Treasurer from 1996 until 2003 for the Mississippi State Fraternal Order of Police in addition to performing his assigned law enforcement and currently serves as the 2006 President of the South Mississippi Narcotics Task Force; and

     WHEREAS, many of the chief's personal hours are spent in the community as a regular volunteer teaching young people and adults to safely handle and discharge their firearms; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize the dedication and commitment to public service of Chief Mosley whose public service has brought honor not only to himself, but also to the Waynesboro Police Department, the City of Waynesboro and the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend and congratulate the long and distinguished service of Chief Jerry Mosley upon the occasion of his retirement after 25 years of outstanding service.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Chief Jerry Mosley, the Waynesboro Police Department and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
