A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE CORINTH HIGH SCHOOL LADY WARRIORS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM ON WINNING THEIR THIRD CONSECUTIVE STATE 3A CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Corinth High School Lady Warriors Cross Country Team brought home yet another state title when the ladies captured the 2005 State 3A Championship at Choctaw Hills on the campus of Mississippi College; and

     WHEREAS, leaving their competition in the dust by winning the  overall title by 47 points, the Lady Warriors had three runners finish in the top ten overall and be named All State:  Katlyn Will (16:08.88); Lauren Foropoulos (16:43.65); and Christina Coleman (17:18.12); and

     WHEREAS, Katlyn Will, finishing 26 seconds ahead of her nearest opponent, defended her state title to take home her second Gold Medal, and Lauren Foropoulos, placing third, earned the Bronze Medal; and

     WHEREAS, the entire Lady Warriors Cross Country Team -- Katlyn Will, Lauren Foropoulos, Christina Coleman, Abby Lambert, Cynthia Cummins (co-captain), Sarah Bullard, Wesley Green (co-captain), Jenny Grier, Mary Beth Robbins, Rebekah Cummins and Ivy Price (co-captain) -- performed well throughout the 2005 season; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Warriors have been superbly coached and inspired by Coach Ashley Green, who has motivated and challenged the ladies to strive for their best; and

     WHEREAS, the 2005 Lady Warriors have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coach and bring honor to Corinth High School; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Corinth High School Lady Warriors Cross Country Team and their coach, Ashley Green, for winning the 2005 Class 3A State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

     BE IF FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Corinth High School, Coach Ashley Green and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
