A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING THE SERVICE, BRAVERY AND DEDICATION OF THE GREENWOOD AREA SOLDIERS OF THE C COMPANY OF THE 467TH COMBAT ENGINEERING BATTALION, UNITED STATES ARMY RESERVES, UPON THEIR RETURN FROM A SUCCESSFUL TOUR OF DUTY IN IRAQ.

WHEREAS, the C Company of the 467th Combat Engineering Battalion of the United States Army Reserves, comprised of soldiers from Greenwood, Mississippi, and the surrounding area, recently returned home after a successful yearlong deployment to Iraq; and

WHEREAS, without hesitation when called to active duty, the members of the company selflessly put their civilian lives on hold and said goodbye to their families in order to further this great nation's security and to aid in establishing a democratic, peaceful society in Iraq; and

WHEREAS, performing beyond all expectations in its operations, the C Company's meritorious service in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom was a significant contribution to the war against terrorism being waged by the United States at home and overseas; and

WHEREAS, the soldiers from the Greenwood area deployed to Iraq as members of the C Company of the 467th Combat Engineering Battalion, United States Army Reserves, are: 2Lt. Gary Rabatin, 1Sg. Milton Hunt, Ssg. Demond Johnson, Ssg. Lyndon Earl McDaniel, Ssg. James Bernard Floyd, Ssg. Craig Rahmond Ryals, Ssg. Peter Wurley Thibodeaux, Jr., Sgt. Rolando G. Galvan, Ssg. Michael Alonzo Jackson, Ssg. Maurice Foreman, Sfc. Michael Laverne White, Ssg. Lester Leroy Jones, Ssg. Charles Earl Curry, Ssg. Clifton King, Sgt. Alfred Lee Haslett, Sgt. Raymond Banks III, Ssg. Tracy Austin, Sgt. Wilton Holmes, Ssg. Roger Quinn O'Neal, Sgt. Cordell Young Liddell, Sgt. Cleveland Benford, Jr., Ssg. Richard Albert Jordan, Spc. Nashon Zorah Jenkins, Spc. Randall Lee Payne, Spc. Scott Warren Keller II, Sgt. Stephen Bradley Stallings, Spc. Christopher Dean, Spc. Jonathan Edward McAllister, Spc. Charles Jerome Nalls, Spc. Norris Dane Jones, Sgt. Victor Lynn Dean, Pfc. Lamarcus Donte Nelson, Sfc. Clifton Williams, Jr., and Ssg. Phillip M. Marshall; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend these outstanding Mississippians for their personal sacrifices, loyal service to our country and courageous efforts to help secure peace and preserve freedom for our state, nation and the free world:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the members of the C Company of the 467th Combat Engineering Battalion of the United States Army Reserves upon their successful return from the company's tour of duty in Iraq and express to the soldiers comprising the C Company a warm, Mississippi "Welcome home!" and extend pride and gratitude for each member's devoted service to the United States.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the commanding officers of the C Company of the 467th Combat Engineering Battalion, United States Army Reserves, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
