House Resolution 91

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE ST. MARTIN HIGH SCHOOL LADY YELLOW JACKETS GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2005-2006 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE REGION 7, DISTRICT 8 CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the St. Martin High School Lady Yellow Jackets Girls Basketball Team finished the 2005-2006 season with an outstanding record of 30 wins and one loss; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Yellow Jackets did very well in tournament play this year, winning the Region 7, District 8 Championship; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Yellow Jackets are comprised of the following members: Ariana Bryant, Raven Farmer, Chantel Hilliard, Charita Hilliard, Kayla Johnson, Angelia Jones, Ka Jones, Sarah Kendrick, Angel Ratliff, Jasmine Straight, Natasha Thomas, Brittney Triplett and Kendra Washington; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Yellow Jackets have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Wayne Fortenberry and Assistant Coach Gina Bell, who have broadened the Lady Yellow Jackets' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Yellow Jackets have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to St. Martin High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the St. Martin High School Lady Yellow Jackets Girls Basketball Team and their coaches, Head Coach Wayne Fortenberry and Assistant Coach Gina Bell, for their outstanding 2005-2006 season, for winning the Region 7, District 8 Championship, and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to St. Martin High School, Head Coach Wayne Fortenberry, Assistant Coach Gina Bell and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
