A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE OF MR. LARRY CHARLES "APPLE HEAD" JACKSON AND EXPRESSING OUR SYMPATHY UPON HIS PASSING.

     WHEREAS, many hearts within the community of Marion County were broken when Mr. Larry Charles "Apple Head" Jackson died on Valentine's Day in 2006; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson was born on July 17, 1962, in Marion County to Leatha Hillard Jackson and Columbus Jackson; and

     WHEREAS, his parents raised him in a loving home that included five sisters and one brother; and

     WHEREAS, although Mr. Jackson graduated from West Marion High School 25 years ago, he was known by all as the school's biggest fan; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson never missed a home game and rarely missed away games, sometimes he was the only person cheering, and

he also sang the national anthem before the games; and

     WHEREAS, West Marion High School will honor Mr. Jackson's dedication to the school throughout the years by placing his name on a school jersey and retiring the number of the jersey in his honor; and

     WHEREAS, to cherish his memory, Mr. Jackson leaves his mother, Letha Jackson of Foxworth; five sisters, Gloria Weatherspoon, Myrtis Richardson, Bonnie Jackson, Carolyn Stepney and Barbara Nell Jackson; one brother, Ive Vill Bickham; and a host of other relatives and friends; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize the positive spirits of Mississippians such as Mr. Jackson:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life of Mr. Larry Charles "Apple Head" Jackson and express deepest sympathy to his family and friends upon his passing.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. Jackson and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
