House Resolution 66

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE WAYNE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL LADY EAGLES GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2005-2006 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE STATE CLASS 4A CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Wayne County High School Lady Eagles Girls Basketball Team finished the 2005-2006 season with an outstanding record of 32 wins and one loss; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Eagles did very well in the state playoffs this year, winning the State Class 4A Championship with a 64-57 victory over previously unbeaten Tunica Rosa Fort; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Eagles finished the season ranked number one in the Clarion Ledger's Girls Basketball Super 10 Rankings; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Eagles have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Gina Skelton who has broadened the Lady Eagles' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Eagles have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coach and bring honor to Wayne County High School; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend and congratulate the Wayne County High School Lady Eagles Girls Basketball Team and Head Coach Gina Skelton, for their outstanding 2005-2006 season, for winning the State Class 4A Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Wayne County High School, Head Coach Gina Skelton, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
