A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE COAHOMA COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL LADY PANTHERS GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2005-2006 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE STATE 2A RUNNER-UP CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Coahoma County High School Lady Panthers Girls Basketball Team finished the 2005-2006 season with an outstanding record of 32 wins and seven losses; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Panthers did very well in the state playoffs this year, winning the State 2A Runner-Up Championship; and

     WHEREAS, the Coahoma County High School Lady Panthers are comprised of the following members:  Regina Givens, Ramona Benson, DeJanae Fountain, Shanquela Jordon, Radius Collins, Tara Maxon, Tanesha Washington, Alicia Sykes, Michelyn O'Donnell, Jalisa Pointer, Jonnetta Robinson, Latonya McGee, Bradley Luster and Wilnessa Foster; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Panthers have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Eddie Culley and Assistant Coach Monica Tompkins, who have broadened the Lady Panthers' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Panthers have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Coahoma County High School; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend and congratulate the Coahoma County High School Lady Panthers Girls Basketball Team and their coaches, Head Coach Eddie Culley and Assistant Coach Monica Tompkins, for their outstanding 2005-2006 season, for winning the State 2A Runner-Up Championship, and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Coahoma County High School, Head Coach Eddie Culley,  Assistant Coach Monica Tompkins and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
