A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MR. JOHN L. MAXEY II FOR BEING RECOGNIZED BY THE ASSOCIATION OF PUBLIC TELEVISION STATIONS.

     WHEREAS, Mr. John L. Maxey II has shown strong commitment to public television through his dedication to Mississippi Public Broadcasting and 12 years of service on the Association of Public Television Stations Board of Trustees; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Maxey is known by many within the television industry as a champion for digital public television stations; and

     WHEREAS, he has also been unwavering in his efforts to better unify the national organizations representing public television stations; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Maxey has served in a number of leadership positions within the industry such as Chair of the Association's Finance and Membership Committee, Cochair of the CEO Search Committee, Vice Chair of the Association's Board of Trustees; and

     WHEREAS, he does not limit his contributions to the television industry as a leader but also tries to create change within the industry by membership in various community organizations such as the Executive Committee, the Nominating Committee and the Legislative Policy and Advocacy Committee; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend the contributions made to our state's economic development by individuals such as Mr. John Maxey:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Mr. John L. Maxey II for being recognized by the Association of Public Television Stations.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. John L. Maxey II and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
