House Resolution 52

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING PASTOR BARTHOLOMEW ORR FOR 25 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE MINISTRY AND CONGRATULATING HIM ON THE GRAND OPENING OF A NEW BUILDING FOR BROWN MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH.   

     WHEREAS, Pastor Bartholomew Orr has dedicated 25 years of his life to the ministry by unselfishly evangelizing the sinner, equipping the saints and exalting the Savior; and

     WHEREAS, Brown Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate the grand opening of a new church facility under the guidance of Pastor Orr; and

     WHEREAS, Pastor Orr is married to the former Valarie R. Bates and to their beautiful union four children were born:  Bartholomew II, Valiant Bates, Bradford Vincent and Brandon; and

     WHEREAS, Pastor Orr began preaching at the age of 11, was licensed to preach in 1983, ordained in 1986 and elected as pastor of Brown Missionary Baptist Church in 1989; and

     WHEREAS, under his spiritual leadership, the church has experienced tremendous growth both spiritually and numerically; and

     WHEREAS, as a youngster, Pastor Orr attended Southaven High School and went on to attain a bachelor of arts degree in humanities at Christian Brothers University; and

     WHEREAS, his biblical training was gained at the Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary where he received the Lifeway Pastoral Leadership Award; and

     WHEREAS, not only does Pastor Orr serve the needs of the members of his church, he takes an active role in his community by conducting revivals and speaking regularly at school and civic functions; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize the contributions of spiritual leaders of the community such as Pastor Bartholomew Orr:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Pastor Bartholomew Orr for 25 years of service to the ministry and congratulate him on the grand opening of a new building for Brown Missionary Baptist Church.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Pastor Bartholomew Orr, Brown Missionary Baptist Church and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
