A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE SERVICE OF CHRISTINE COBURN MCDANIEL FOR HER MANY YEARS OF SERVICE TO NORTHWEST REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER AND TO THE FIELD OF NURSING AND CONGRATULATING HER UPON HER RETIREMENT.

     WHEREAS, Christine Coburn McDaniel retired in December 2005 from Northwest Regional Medical Center after being dedicated to the field of nursing for 38 years; and

     WHEREAS, the daughter of the late Collins and Christine Allen Coburn, and a native of Clarksdale, Mississippi, Mrs. McDaniel  attended the Eagle Queen, Tougaloo College, from 1962 through 1964; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. McDaniel entered Homer G. Phillips Hospital School of Nursing in 1964 where she graduated with honors and with the highest average in her class at the official capping ceremony in 1967; and

     WHEREAS, due to Mrs. McDaniel's outstanding academics in the field of nursing, she was immediately hired upon graduation as Registered Charge Nurse by Coahoma County Hospital in September of 1967; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. McDaniel has successfully worked in various nursing positions throughout her exceptional career which have included:  assistant supervisor, supervisor, nurse manager for med-surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics and as Quality Coordinator in the Quality Department at Northwest Regional Medical Center; and

     WHEREAS, not only has Mrs. McDaniel been a success in her nursing career, she is also an avid activist in her community where she is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and has been involved in community service projects for over 42 years; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. McDaniel has received various awards and recognitions which include being selected by the staff and physicians at Northwest Regional Medical Center as Registered Nurse of the Year in 1985; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and pay special tribute to an outstanding individual such as Mrs. Christine C. McDaniel who has devoted her career to helping others both in her career and in her community:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Mrs. Christine Coburn McDaniel for her exceptional contributions in the field of nursing in the State of Mississippi and extend to her our heartiest wishes upon her retirement and wish her success in all her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Christine C. McDaniel and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
