A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING ELLANIE DAVIS UPON BEING NAMED 2006 MISS DIXIE NATIONAL RODEO QUEEN.

     WHEREAS, Ellanie Davis, the 18-year-old daughter of Randall and Donna Davis, was recently crowned 2006 Miss Dixie National Rodeo Queen; and

     WHEREAS, a 2004 graduate of Loyd Star Attendance Center in Lincoln County, Ellanie currently attends Copiah Lincoln Community College in pursuit of a degree in nursing; and

     WHEREAS, having ridden and shown horses since age three, being crowned 2006 Miss Dixie National Rodeo Queen highlights her career of horse showing; and

     WHEREAS, the Dixie National Livestock Show and Rodeo is a Mississippi tradition that attracts competitors and exhibitors from all 50 states and often from other countries; and

     WHEREAS, upon being bestowed with the crown of queen, Ellanie takes on the responsibility of representing Mississippi and the Dixie National Livestock Show and Rodeo; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence in the accomplishments of the youth of our state, such as Ellanie Davis, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Ellanie Davis upon being named 2006 Miss Dixie National Rodeo Queen and extend our heartiest wishes for continued success in all her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Ellanie Davis and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
