House Concurrent Resolution 104

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE PUBLIC SERVICE OF PEGGY GARREN UPON HER RETIREMENT AFTER 29 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE PEARL PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT.

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Peggy Garren, a native of Petal and resident of Pearl since 1965, has faithfully served the Pearl School District for 29 years, and it is with great appreciation that we recognize her dedication and devotion upon her retirement; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Garren became an employee of the Pearl School District in 1977 at Upper Elementary where she served as a teacher's aid, but shortly thereafter, to fill an unexpected vacancy, she became the school's secretary; and

     WHEREAS, after superbly performing her duties at Upper Elementary, Mrs. Garren's excellent work ethic was noticed and in 1978, she was transferred to the high school as secretary in the counselor's office; and

     WHEREAS, in 1987, Mrs. Garren became the secretary for the principal at Pearl High School and since that time she has worked harmoniously under four different principals; and

     WHEREAS, as one who is known for working and interacting with the students, teachers and parents, Mrs. Garren has always loved connecting with people and helping them solve their problems; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to her secretarial duties, Mrs. Garren unselfishly assisted in other areas at Pearl High School which included:  helping in the drama department, selling tickets for football games, keeping statistics at track meets and assisting the cheerleading program; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Garren has been supported by her husband, Mike; their two lovely daughters, Laura and Mandy; and four grandchildren, Garren, Kathryn Grace, Walker and Maggie; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence of an individual such as Mrs. Peggy Garren who has been a superb school employee and an excellent and positive role model for all:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Mrs. Peggy Garren for her faithful and dedicated career as secretary to the Pearl School District and extend heartiest wishes for continued success in all her future endeavors.

     BE IT RUTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Peggy Garren, the Pearl School District and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
