House Concurrent Resolution 97

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MADISON CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL JAGUARS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2005-2006 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE STATE 5A CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Madison Central High School Jaguars Basketball Team finished the 2005-2006 season with an outstanding record of 30 wins and eight losses; and

     WHEREAS, the Jaguars did very well in the state playoffs this year, winning the school's first Class 5A State Basketball Championship with a 56-48 win over Provine; and

     WHEREAS, the Jaguars have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Jeff Heath and Assistant Coach Teague Burchfield, who have broadened the Jaguars' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Heath has compiled a 92-41 record in four seasons at Madison Central High School; and

     WHEREAS, the Jaguars have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Madison Central High School; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we commend and congratulate the Madison Central High School Jaguars Boys Basketball Team and their coaches, Head Coach Jeff Heath and Assistant Coach Teague Burchfield, for their outstanding 2005-2006 season, for winning the State 5A Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Madison Central High School, Head Coach Jeff Heath, Assistant Coach Teague Burchfield and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
