A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING KEVIN KYLE FOSTER AND JAMES ANDREW HOLLINGSWORTH FOR THEIR SCOUTING ACHIEVEMENTS AND UPON THEIR SELECTION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA/SCOUT ASSOCIATION OF JAPAN EXCHANGE PROGRAM.

     WHEREAS, Kevin Kyle Foster and James Andrew Hollingsworth, members of the Yocona Area Council, have been selected to attend the Boy Scouts of America/Scout Association of Japan (BSA/SAJ) Exchange Program, to be held March 2-13, 2006, in Tokyo, Japan; and

     WHEREAS, two of only 32 youth chosen nationwide to participate in this grand event, Kevin and Andrew will be among a delegation of 200 members representing 26 countries to engage in a scouting enrichment program of sharing information and experiences among the participating countries, all the while deepening their knowledge of Japan and the Japanese culture; and

     WHEREAS, adhering to the Scout Oath and abiding by the Scout Law, both Kevin and Andrew were able to earn the coveted Eagle Scout award by advancing their knowledge, leadership skills, organizational skills, and community service, while gaining support from the community, their peers and their families; and

     WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Kevin Kyle Foster's activities, honors and involvements include the following:  Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow; ceremony team member of Chicksa Lodge 202/Order of the Arrow; summer camp staff member; lodge vice chief of finance; National Order of the Arrow Conference attendee in Boise, Idaho; 2006 delegate for National Order of the Arrow Conference in Michigan; 2005 National Boy Scout Jamboree attendee at Ft. A.P. Hill; ninth grade honor student at Tupelo High School; and reading, sports and water skiing; and

     WHEREAS, Eagle Scout James Andrew Hollingsworth's activities, honors and involvements include the following:  attained the rank of Eagle Scout in September 2003; Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow; 2002 National Order of the Arrow Conference attendee in Bloomington, Indiana; ceremony dancer for Chicksa Lodge 202/Order of the Arrow; summer camp staff member at Camp Yocona; member of the Sea Scouts; eleventh grade student at Itawamba High School; member of the National Honor Society; member of Itawamba Varsity Tennis Team; and hunting, fishing and sports; and

     WHEREAS, joining the scouts from the United States and Japan, which have the largest groups of participants, will be scouts from Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burunei Darussalam, China, Fiji, French Polynesia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Kiribati, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand; and

     WHEREAS, the selection of these two outstanding youth to engage in such a culturally enhanced enrichment program, brings great honor and pride to the Yocona Area Council, the Cities of Fulton and Tupelo, Itawamba and Lee Counties, the State of Mississippi and the Boy Scouts Troops of America; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Kevin Kyle Foster and James Andrew Hollingsworth for their scouting achievements upon their selection to participate in the Boy Scouts of America/Scout Association of Japan (BSA/SAJ) Exchange Program and extend our most heartfelt wishes for a safe and enjoyable trip and continued success in all their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Kevin, Andrew, the Yocona Area Council and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
