A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MRS. JODI HARRIS FOR BEING SELECTED AS INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE JACKSON COUNTY CAMPUS OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Jodi Harris, a resident of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, has been selected as Instructor of the Year at the Jackson County Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and

     WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of their teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Jodi Harris, a Business and Office Technology and Database Administration Technology instructor, has been employed at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past five years and has taught for the past seven years; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Jodi Harris received her Associate of Applied Science from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College; her Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern Mississippi, and her Master of Science from the University of Southern Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Jodi Harris has served as the National Science Foundation Project director; completed the MGCCC Master Teacher Program; serves as the Phi Beta Lambda advisor; developed curriculum and implemented the only Database Administration program in Mississippi community colleges and hosted the Women's Conference on Information Technology; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Jodi Harris is a volunteer for the YMCA; cheerleader coach for the Upward Basketball League and assistant Youth Minister at Emmanuel Baptist Church; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Jodi Harris was selected as a National Science Foundation grant applications reader; presenter at the League of Innovations CIT Conference; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend such outstanding teachers as Mrs. Jodi Harris, who has dedicated her career to teaching the young people of this state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mrs. Jodi Harris, for being selected as Instructor of the Year at the Jackson County Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend to her our heartiest wishes for success in all her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Jodi Harris and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
