A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MRS. PAM CHATMAN FOR BEING THE FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN NEWS DIRECTOR NOMINATED AS ONE OF MISSISSIPPI'S MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE.

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Pam Chatman has been nominated as one of Mississippi's Most Influential People; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Chatman is the first African American female news director in the state, as well as the first African American female news director employed by her company, WABG; and

     WHEREAS, she has received great recognition for her professional achievements from Mahogany Magazine when she was named one of the "Top 50 Black Women on the Move" and named as one of the top 50 women in business by the Business Journal Magazine; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to her fantastic professional achievements, Mrs. Chatman is the founder and CEO of "Empowering U" Mentoring Program, a community service organization designed to increase the self-esteem of youth in the community; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend the excellence and contributions of such a great Mississippian as Mrs. Pam Chatman:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Pam Chatman for being the first African American news director nominated as one of Mississippi's Most Influential People.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Pam Chatman and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
