AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF HANCOCK COUNTY TO PAY THE HEALTH INSURANCE PREMIUMS AND THE EMPLOYER RETIREMENT CONTRIBUTIONS FOR ANY PERSON WHO PERFORMS SERVICES FOR THE COUNTY DURING ANY PERIOD OF TIME THAT THE PERSON'S COMPENSATION IS BEING PAID WITH FUNDS FROM THE NATIONAL EMERGENCY GRANT PROGRAM OF THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF LABOR; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  The Board of Supervisors of Hancock County, Mississippi, in its discretion, may pay the cost of health insurance premiums and pay the required employer contributions to the Public Employees' Retirement System for any person who performs services for the county during any period of time that the person's compensation is being paid with funds from the National Emergency Grant Program of the United States Department of Labor, subject to the following conditions:

          (a)  The persons for whom the board may make the payments authorized by this section shall be only those persons who were employees of the county on the county payroll for not less than ninety (90) days before being placed on the National Emergency Grant Program, and who will be employees of the county on the payroll of the county for not less than ninety (90) days after being removed from the National Emergency Grant Program.

          (b)  Any person for whom the board has made the payments authorized by this section who is not an employee of the county on the county payroll for not less than ninety (90) days after being removed from the National Emergency Grant Program shall be liable to the county for reimbursement of the amounts paid on behalf of the person by the board under the authority of this section.

     (2)  The board of supervisors may use any funds available to the county to make the payments authorized by this section.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
