AN ACT TO PROHIBIT GATHERING PERSONAL INFORMATION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, JUDICIAL AND PROSECUTORIAL PERSONNEL; TO PROVIDE PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS OF THIS ACT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  It shall be unlawful to gather information regarding the identity, address, any telephone number or others private information of any law enforcement officer, criminal investigator, judge or district attorney or the spouse or child of such law enforcement officer, criminal investigator, judge or district attorney.  Any person who violates the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction, shall be fined not more than One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00).

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2006.
