House Bill 1423

AN ACT TO REQUIRE THAT THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION SHALL GRANT A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA TO ANY STUDENT WHO HAS COMPLETED EQUIVALENT STUDIES IN A MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Any person shall be granted a diploma from the Mississippi Public High School last attended who has withdrawn from that school and attended college and;

     (a)     Achieved the required scores upon completion of equivalent or high level courses from Mississippi colleges or universities that would reasonably complete those credits required for high school graduation, and

     (b)     Made a request to the Public High School District last attended in Mississippi or to the State Department of Education which includes relevant transcripts of coursework completed.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
