AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS TO ENFORCE AND ASSIST IN ENFORCING IMMIGRATION LAWS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. All law enforcement officers, as that term is defined in Section 45-6-3, are hereby authorized and encouraged to enforce all immigration laws while in the course of their regular duties. Law enforcement officers shall cooperate and assist the Immigration and Naturalization Service in enforcing the federal immigration laws.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
