AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION, ACTING ON BEHALF OF THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, TO SELL CERTAIN STATE-OWNED PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE CITY OF JACKSON; TO REQUIRE THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION AND PURCHASER OR LESSEE OF THE PROPERTY TO AN ACCEPTABLE USE OF THE PROPERTY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1.  The Department of Finance and Administration, acting on behalf of the Mississippi Department of Education, and upon meeting the requirements of Section 29-1-1, may sell and convey all or part of certain state-owned real property in the city of Jackson, Hinds County, Mississippi, commonly known as the School for the Blind, more particularly described as follows:

A part of Section 24, Township 6 North, Range 1 East, being that property that lies North of Eastover Drive and East of Interstate 55 Frontage Road allocated to the Department of Education for use by the School for the Blind, consisting of 20 acres, more or less, exact acreage, easements and boundaries to be determined by an official survey.

     SECTION 2.  With regard to the sale or conveyance of all or part of the property described in Section 1 of this act, the owner or lessee shall use the property in a manner as approved by the State Board of Education to be an acceptable use of the property in that the use will not interfere with the operation of the Mississippi School of the Blind.

     SECTION 3.  The State of Mississippi shall retain all mineral rights in the property sold pursuant to this act.

     SECTION 4.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
