AN ACT TO REPEAL SECTION 63-7-59, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROHIBITS THE PLACEMENT UPON MOTOR VEHICLE WINDOWS OF SIGNS, POSTERS, GLAZING MATERIAL THAT CAUSES A MIRRORED EFFECT OR TINTED FILM OR DARKENING MATERIAL HAVING A CERTAIN PERCENTAGE OF LUMINOUS REFLECTANCE OR LIGHT TRANSMITTANCE, WHICH PROHIBITS MOTOR VEHICLE INSPECTION STATIONS FROM ISSUING INSPECTION CERTIFICATES FOR VEHICLES IN VIOLATION OF THIS SECTION, AND WHICH PRESCRIBES CRIMINAL PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS OF THIS SECTION; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Section 63-7-59, Mississippi Code of 1972, which prohibits the placement upon motor vehicle windows of signs, posters, glazing material that causes a mirrored effect or tinted film or darkening material having a certain percentage of luminous reflectance or light transmittance, which prohibits motor vehicle inspection stations from issuing inspection certificates for vehicles in violation of this section, and which prescribes criminal penalties for violations of this section, is repealed.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2006.
