AN ACT TO PROHIBIT SEX OFFENDERS FROM BEING EMPLOYED IN JOBS WHICH REQUIRE CLOSE CONTACT WITH CHILDREN; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  Any person convicted of a sex offense is prohibited from employment when he or she would have close contact with children.

     (2)  This section applies to all registered sex offenders regardless of the date of conviction.

     (3)  Any person previously registered as a sex offender and who has a continuing obligation to be registered as a sex offender shall be notified of the person's duty under this section with the first reregistration form to be sent to the person after July 1, 2006.

     SECTION 2.  Section 1 of this act shall be codified in Chapter 33, Title 45, Mississippi Code of 1972.

     SECTION 3.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2006.
