COMMITTEE AMENDMENT NO 1 PROPOSED TO

House Bill No. 1702

     Amend by striking all after the enacting clause and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

 

     SECTION 1.  The governing authorities of the City of Gulfport, Mississippi, are authorized and empowered to contribute from any available funds, not more than Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00) during calendar years 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, to the Humane Society of South Mississippi (HSSM) for land acquisition and the construction of a shelter and facility on U.S. Highway 49 in Gulfport, Mississippi, to house and care for stray animals and for related functions and services of HSSM.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

     Further, amend by striking the title in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

 

     AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY OF GULFPORT, MISSISSIPPI, TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF SOUTH MISSISSIPPI FOR THE ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY AND CONSTRUCTION OF A SHELTER AND FACILITY IN GULFPORT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
