A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING DR. ALISA L. MOSLEY, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF MANAGEMENT, JACKSON STATE UNIVERSITY, FOR EDUCATIONAL AND CIVIC CONTRIBUTIONS.

     WHEREAS, Dr. Alisa L. Mosley, Assistant Professor of Management,Jackson State University (JSU), was nominated to the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning for commendation in recognition of Black History Month; and

     WHEREAS, Dr. Mosleyreceived her Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska (August 1998), M.B.A. from Florida A&M University (April 1994), and B.S. in Business Administration from Florida A&M University (December 1993); and

     WHEREAS, Dr. Mosleybegan her career in 1995 while in Graduate School at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and has been employed at Exxon Company, Houston, Texas; Department of Housing and Urban Development, Washington, D.C.; Alcorn Laboratories, Fort Worth, Texas; Sprint, Richardson, Texas; and ASEE Faculty Fellows Program, Patuxent River, Maryland.  In August 1998, she joined the staff of Jackson State University as Assistant Professor of Management; and

     WHEREAS, since Dr. Mosley's appointment at JSU, she has been involved in a number of diversity initiatives, has authored or co-authored a number of articles on diversity, and has had the opportunity to serve as a Reviewer for a journal dedicated to diversity issues and concerns; and

     WHEREAS, Dr. Mosleyhas served as a Black History keynote speaker for a local high school.  Dr. Mosley's diversity endeavors extend to the international community.  She serves as an international host to scholars from India whereby the scholars are given the opportunity to interact with the College of Business faculty and students at JSU.  Through endeavors such as these, Dr. Mosley has been able to implement positive advancement toward diversity at JSU and in the community; and

     WHEREAS, Dr. Mosley's civic and community involvement includes keynote speaker at Raymond High School Black History Program (2001), and Journal Reviewer—Gender and Diversity in Organizations, Academy of Management (1998, 2000, 2004); and

     WHEREAS, Dr. Mosleyhas been recognized for her work by receiving Teacher of the Year, 1999, 2000 (Jackson State University); Best Paper Award, Journal of Leadership Studies, 1999; and first participant identified through the Ph.D. Project to receive a doctorate, 1998; and

     WHEREAS, Dr. Mosley'sprofessional memberships and activities include:  Academy of Management, Allied Academies, and Association for Marketing Theory and Practice.  Dr. Mosleyhas written numerous journal articles and publications:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we take pride in recognizing Dr. Alisa L. Mosley, Assistant Professor of Management, Jackson State University, in observance of Black History Month for her commitment to positive advancement of diversity at Jackson State University and in the State of Mississippi.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Dr. Mosley in recognition of her commitment to higher education, be forwarded to the President of Jackson State University and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
