Senate Resolution 11

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING QUENTIN WHITWELL, RECIPIENT OF THE MISSISSIPPI BUSINESS JOURNAL 2005 "TOP 40 UNDER 40" AWARD.

     WHEREAS, Quentin Whitwell, a Partner with Stroud Harper & Whitwell, P.C., of Jackson, Mississippi, is a recipient of the Mississippi Business Journal's 2005 "Top 40 Under 40" Award; and

     WHEREAS, a third generation attorney, Quentin was a starting quarterback for Oxford High School, setting a record for the highest passing percentage in his Senior year, when the 10-3 team won its first-ever district championship; and

     WHEREAS, after earning an undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi in 1995, Whitwell graduated from Ole Miss Law School in 1998.  While on campus, the Hall of Fame inductee was President of the Associated Student Body, a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and the Mortar Board, honorary President of Lambda Sigma, Scholarship Chairman for Sigma Nu Fraternity, and interned for Chancery Court Judge Anthony T. Farese; and

     WHEREAS, before venturing on his own, Whitwell served as Vice President of Public Policy for the Mississippi Association of Realtors (MAR), the state's largest trade association; and

     WHEREAS, Quentin is frequently called upon by state leaders for counsel and assistance, and he is thought of highly in business and political communities; and

     WHEREAS, through the recent efforts of Quentin and the Realtors' Association, the business climate for Realtors has been enhanced, which ultimately benefits the state and local communities; and

     WHEREAS, growing up, Whitwell wanted to be a preacher; instead, he teaches Sunday School at the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Mississippi, where he serves on the Stewardship Committee.  Quentin and his wife, Ginger, have two young children, and it is with pride that we recognize this respected young attorney, who has brought honor to his firm, his community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Quentin Whitwell, recipient of the Mississippi Business Journal 2005 "Top 40 Under 40" Award, and extend to him and his family the best wishes of the Senate for success in his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to

Quentin Whitwell and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
