AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY OF GULFPORT, MISSISSIPPI, TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF SOUTH MISSISSIPPI FOR THE ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY AND CONSTRUCTION OF A SHELTER AND FACILITY IN GULFPORT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The governing authorities of the City of Gulfport, Mississippi, are authorized and empowered to contribute from any available funds, not more than Sixty Thousand Dollars ($60,000.00) annually, during calendar years 2005, 2006 and 2007, to the Humane Society of South Mississippi (HSSM) for land acquisition and the construction of a shelter and facility on U.S. Highway 49 in Gulfport, Mississippi, to house and care for stray animals and for related functions and services of HSSM.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
