AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS OF THE STATE TO PAY ANY MUNICIPAL OR COUNTY OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE WHO IS ACTIVATED FOR FEDERALLY FUNDED MILITARY DUTY THE DIFFERENCE, OR ANY PORTION THEREOF, BETWEEN HIS REGULAR PAY AND HIS MILITARY PAY RECEIVED DURING ACTIVE DUTY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Any political subdivision of the state, in the discretion of its executive director, may pay any officer or employee of the political subdivision who is activated for federally funded military duty the difference, or any portion thereof, between his regular pay and the military pay received during all or any part of his term of active federally funded duty if the military pay received is less than his regular pay.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
