AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO CONSTRUCT TO DEPARTMENT DESIGN STANDARDS CERTAIN IMPROVEMENTS ON A SEGMENT OF MISSISSIPPI HIGHWAY 43 IN PEARL RIVER COUNTY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.   The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall construct to department design standards and may acquire by gift, purchase or eminent domain proceedings such property as may be necessary to perform construction of the following described segment of highway:

     Southern District-Pearl River County

     An upgrade to a five-lane highway with a center turn lane and right turn ramps to existing roads and developments of Mississippi Highway 43 within the corporate limits of Picayune beginning at or near Merrill Road and extending easterly for approximately four thousand (4,000) feet to the intersection of Mississippi Highway 43 and East Canal Street.

          SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2005.
