Senate Bill 2177

AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 37-9-13, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT LOCAL SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENTS SHALL HAVE AT LEAST FOUR YEARS OF ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Section 37-9-13, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

     37-9-13.  Each school district shall have a superintendent of schools, selected in the manner provided by law.  No person shall be eligible to the office of superintendent of schools unless such person shall hold a valid administrator's license issued by the State Department of Education and shall have had not less than four (4) years of * * * administrative experience.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2005.
