A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE BAY ST. LOUIS HIGH SCHOOL LADY TIGERS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING SEASON OF PLAY FOR 2005 AND WINNING THE CLASS 4A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Bay St. Louis High School Lady Tigers Basketball Team finished the 2005 season with an impressive record of 35-2 in regular season play, winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 4A State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, the 2005 Lady Tigers clinched the state title after defeating Calloway by a score of 53-44, bringing additional honor to the team which had also won the District VIII Championship; and

     WHEREAS, many individual honors have been bestowed upon various team members in recognition of their fine, dedicated and superior play and their hard work this season, including:  the naming of Kendra Reed, Tamara Reed and Destiny Porter to the All-State Team; the selection of Kendra Reed and Destiny Porter to the All-South State Team; the selection of Kendra Reed as District VIII Overall MVP; and the naming of Crystal Scretchings as District VIII Defensive MVP; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Tigers have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Debbie Triplett, who has broadened the team's knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Triplett has brought additional honor to Bay St. Louis High School by being named "Coach of the Year" for District VIII; and

     WHEREAS, a self-disciplined and self-motivated team, the Lady Tigers have been supported in their athletic endeavors and can attribute much of their success to the many parents, fans and supporters whose moral and spiritual encouragement have remained fervent throughout the season; and

     WHEREAS, they have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Bay St. Louis High School; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Bay St. Louis High School Lady Tigers Basketball Team and their coach for their phenomenal 2005 season, for winning the MHSAA Class 4A State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Bay St. Louis High School, Head Coach Debbie Triplett and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
