House Resolution 101

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING TIM HINKLEY UPON BEING NAMED THE RECIPIENT OF THE 2004 BILLY CREEL TOURISM AWARD.

     WHEREAS, Tim Hinkley was named the 2004 Billy Creel Tourism Award recipient for his leadership and contributions to the Mississippi coastal community in promoting tourism; and

     WHEREAS, a visionary with unrivaled energy and enthusiasm, Mr. Hinkley, who graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor of science degree in hotel, restaurant and institutional management, was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of the Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc., in 2003; and

     WHEREAS, prior to his position as President, Mr. Hinkley served as Senior Vice President of Operations for six years and also Vice President and General Manager of the Isle of Capri Casino Resort-Biloxi, Mississippi, since its inception in 1992; and

     WHEREAS, with an extensive background in casino operations, Mr. Hinkley has previously worked with Steamboat Casino Cruises in Iowa, Star Line Corporation, Schuler's Inc., and the Stouffer Corporation; and

     WHEREAS, his drive and determination to make Biloxi a better place to live, work and play is ongoing through his membership, service and contributions to the American Gaming Association, the National Center for Responsible Gaming, the Mississippi Economic Council and the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra; and

     WHEREAS,  Mr. Hinkley also is a diligent member of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Gulf Coast Community Foundation Leadership Gulf Coast Program, YMCA Metro Board, United Way of South Mississippi, Boys and Girls Club Leadership Board, Harrison County Strategic Planning Steering Committee, Harrison County Jet Service Task Force and Gulf Coast Economic Development Council; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence in outstanding Mississippians such as Mr. Hinkley, who is the epitome of true volunteerism for the Mississippi Gulf Coast:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Mr. Tim Hinkley upon being named as the recipient of the 2004 Billy Creel Tourism Award.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Tim Hinkley and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
