House Resolution 90

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MARION MARGARET "MARI MARGARET" PHILLIPS UPON BEING NAMED MARION COUNTY JUNIOR MISS 2005.

     WHEREAS, Miss Marion Margaret "Mari Margaret" Phillips, daughter of Dana and Scott Phillips of Columbia, Mississippi, was crowned Marion County Junior Miss 2005 on Saturday, March 19, 2005; and

     WHEREAS, an active and outgoing junior at Columbia High School, Miss Phillips is a member of the varsity cheerleading squad and the fast-pitch softball team, named to the All-District Team for two years; and

     WHEREAS, Miss Phillips, a Diamond Girl, Mississippi All-Star Cheerleader and member of the First Baptist Church of Columbia, aspires to attend the University of Mississippi after graduating, where she plans to major in elementary education; and

     WHEREAS, Miss Phillips actively represents her fellow students at Columbia High School as Dusty Club President, Crown Club Project Chairman, member of the Beta Club, Phi Kappa Fraternity Little Sister and was named GA's Queen Regent; and

     WHEREAS, as Marion County Junior Miss, Miss Phillips will represent her county in the 2005 Mississippi Junior Miss Pageant; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, as evidenced by the beautiful and talented young lady, Miss Mari Margaret Phillips:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Marion Margaret "Mari Margaret" Phillips upon being crowned Marion County Junior Miss 2005 and extend to her our heartiest wishes for success in all her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Miss Mari Margaret Phillips and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
