A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE PETAL HIGH SCHOOL "SOUNDSATIONS" SHOW CHOIR ON WINNING THE 2005 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Petal High School "Soundsations" Show Choir was recently named the 2005 Grand Champion at the FAME National Competition in Hawaii; and

     WHEREAS, the "Soundsations" have performed exceptionally well in competition this year, winning the 2005 Southern Showcase in Oplelika, Alabama, and the 2005 South Central Classic in Homewood, Alabama; and

     WHEREAS, the Grand Champion "Soundsations" in their rise to national recognition, have been awarded honors for best vocals, best choreography, best band, best show design, best costumes and best repertoire in these various competitions; and

     WHEREAS, the "Soundsations" spend many hours each week practicing their elite vocal performance, dance routines and stage presence in addition to remaining on track with their academics; and

     WHEREAS, the "Soundsations" have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitudes reflect great credit upon the individual students and their directors and bring great honor to Petal High School; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Petal High School "Soundsations" Show Choir for being selected the 2005 Grand Champions at the National FAME Competition and for displaying tireless devotion to their musical endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Petal High School, the directors of the "Soundsations" and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
