House Resolution 42

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MADISON CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL LADY JAGUARS SOCCER TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING 2004-2005 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION (MHSAA) CLASS 5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, Madison Central High School Lady Jaguars Soccer Team finished the 2004-2005 season with a remarkable record of 23 wins and only one loss; and

     WHEREAS, throughout the regular season and playoffs, the Lady Jaguars fought and defeated many well-contended teams, outscoring their opponents 99-8 in total goals this season and captured the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 5A State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, recognized by the Madison County School Board for winning the 5A State Championship, certificates of accomplishment were presented to the following team members:  Jennifer Addy, Courtney Alexander, Kasey Ambrose, Emily Crosswhite, Ashlee Curtis, Katie Dahlem, Katie Dennis, Allison Dunbar, Michelle Eddy, Kathryn Ellis, Ramonia Forbes, Carrie Frazier, Amanda Groos, Amanda Harden, Katie Harden, Carrie Kirk, Hannah Langley, Lauren Loflin, Mary McPherson, Kristin Mitchell, Tracey Pettit, Courtney Reed, Heather Roberson, Leslie Sutherland and Jordan Tate; and

     WHEREAS, Madison Central High School Lady Jaguars have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Mike Curley, who has broadened the Lady Jaguars' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Jaguars have been supported in their athletic endeavors and can attribute much of their success to the many parents, fans and supporters whose moral and spiritual encouragement have remained fervent throughout the season; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Jaguars have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coach and bring honor to Madison Central High School; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Madison Central High School Lady Jaguars Soccer Team and their coach for their phenomenal 2004-2005 season, for winning the MHSAA Class 5A State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Madison Central High School, Head Coach Mike Curley and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
