A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING STRIDER ACADEMY JUNIOR HIGH LADY RAMS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING 2004-2005 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE NORTH STATE CLASS 1A DISTRICT 3 TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, Strider Academy Junior High Lady Rams Basketball Team finished the 2004-2005 season with a remarkable record of 27 wins and only two losses; and

     WHEREAS, throughout the regular season and playoffs, the Junior High Lady Rams fought and defeated many well-contended teams, including East Holmes, Central Holmes, Hebron Christian, Immanuel Christian, Winona Christian and Calhoun, and captured the North State Class 1A District 3 Tournament Championship; and

     WHEREAS, the 2004-2005 team for Strider Academy Junior High Lady Rams made history by capturing the school's third consecutive North State Class 1A District 3 Tournament Championship; and

     WHEREAS, the members of the Strider Academy Junior High Lady Rams Team are:  Katelyn Mabus, Saylor Gee, Mallory Mixon, Susie Tucker, Amanda Chandler, Casey Davis, Leanna Reynolds, Madelyn Weeks, Kayla Frizzell, Madison Little, Morgan Melton, Leah Ivy, Whitni Goodwin and Allison Aven; and

     WHEREAS, Strider Academy Junior High Lady Rams have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Joe B. Bradshaw and Assistant Coach Gerry Winters, who have broadened the Rams' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

     WHEREAS, Head Coach Joe B. Bradshaw has brought additional honor to himself and to Strider Academy by being named Coach of the Year for three consecutive years; and

     WHEREAS, the Junior High Lady Rams have been supported in their athletic endeavors and can attribute much of their success to the many parents, fans and supporters whose moral and spiritual encouragement have remained fervent throughout the season; and

     WHEREAS, the Junior High Lady Rams have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitudes reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Strider Academy; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Strider Academy Junior High Lady Rams Basketball Team and their coaches, Head Coach Joe B. Bradshaw and Assistant Coach Gerry Winters, for their phenomenal 2004-2005 season, for winning the North State Class 1A District 3 Tournament Championship for three consecutive years and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Strider Academy, Head Coach Joe B. Bradshaw, Assistant Coach Gerry Winters and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
