House Resolution 37

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE PEARL HIGH SCHOOL PIRATES SOCCER TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2004-2005 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE CLASS 4A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Pearl High School Pirates Soccer Team finished the 2004-2005 season with an outstanding record of 20-1-2, and winning the Class 4A State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, the 2003 and 2004 North State Champions, the Pirates' 3-0 victory over the St. Stanislaus Rock-A-Chaws led them to their third state 4A title in a five-year period, having won the coveted title previously in 2001 and 2002; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to the overall Class 4A State Championship and finishing the season ranked No. 2 in the State of Mississippi, the Pirates recorded 17 shutouts in 23 games; and

     WHEREAS, led by three seniors, Jack Craven, Paul Muffuletto and Matt Robinson, the Pirates have been touted with several individual honors, including the naming of Jack Craven and Paul Muffuletto as All-State Players; and

     WHEREAS, the Pirates have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Brad Biard, who has broadened the Pirates' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Biard, over the last five years as Pirates' coach, has brought additional honor to himself and to Pearl High School by being selected as the 2005 Co-Coach of the Year for Rankin County, 2003 All-Star Coach and boasting a 97-14-9 record; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Pearl High School Pirates Soccer Team and their coach, Brad Biard, for their outstanding 2004-2005 season, for winning the Class 4A State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Pearl High School, Coach Brad Biard and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
