A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING AMY ROGERS AS A RECIPIENT OF THE 2004 MILKEN FAMILY FOUNDATION NATIONAL EDUCATOR AWARD.

     WHEREAS, it is with utmost pride and pleasure that heartiest congratulations are herein extended to Amy Rogers of Purvis Elementary School in Purvis, Mississippi, as a recipient of the 2004 Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award; and

     WHEREAS, the Milken Educator Awards were conceived in 1985 to reward, retain and attract the highest caliber teachers to the profession and, since that time, the program has honored more than 2,000 outstanding educators in 47 states and the District of Columbia; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Rogers is acknowledged with deep gratitude for her invaluable educational contributions to the countless young people who have been inspired, encouraged and touched by the experiences they have gained under her tutelage; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pleasure that the House of Representatives recognizes the accomplishments and successes of our state's educators such as Ms. Rogers, whose commitment to enhancing children's lives through a quality education, brings great honor and pride to herself, her family, colleagues and the entire State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That Amy Rogers of Purvis Elementary School is most highly commended upon her selection as a recipient of the 2004 Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Ms. Amy Rogers, the Purvis Elementary School and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
