House Resolution 33

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING COLUMBIA PRIMARY SCHOOL ON ACHIEVING LEVEL 5 STATUS AND AVERAGE YEARLY PROGRESS IN ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE.

     WHEREAS, it is with utmost pride and pleasure that heartiest congratulations are extended to the faculty and students of Columbia Primary School upon achieving Level 5 status and meeting and excelling in the Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in academic excellence; and

     WHEREAS, because of the commitment and dedication of the administrators and teachers, coupled with the drive, ambition and perseverance of the students, Columbia Primary School has set the benchmark of excellence in education by receiving such widely acclaimed honors; and

     WHEREAS, Columbia Primary School has also received the Value Added Merit Award by PREPS (Program of Research and Evaluation of Public Schools) for outstanding gains in student achievement and extraordinary service to the children of Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to being collectively honored as an institution of educational enhancement, there have been individual honors bestowed upon the faculty as well; and

     WHEREAS, Vicki Boone, third-grade teacher, was selected as Mississippi Business and Professional Women's "Youngest Careerist" for 2004; and

     WHEREAS, Principal Gayle Knight, has been honored for her administrative leadership in striving for excellence in education and for her services as past President of Mississippi  Professional Educators; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pleasure that the House of Representatives recognizes the accomplishments and successes of our state's educators and students who exemplify the importance and benefits of a quality education:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That Columbia Primary  School is most highly commended upon its achievement of Level 5 status and Average Yearly Progress in academic excellence.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Columbia Primary School, Principal Gayle Knight, Ms. Vicki Boone and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
